Amakhosi were charged for not honouring two of their five December fixtures against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows.

At the time, Chiefs sent the PSL a letter requesting for postponement of their December fixtures due to the Covid-19 outbreak that hit their camp.

In early January, the PSL held a press conference at their offices where chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza admitted that the Chiefs matter was legally complicated.

But before then, Chiefs made it clear that they would appeal any decision that’s not in their favour in this instance.

KAIZER CHIEFS HEARING DATE SET

According to Majavu, Kaizer Chiefs will appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee for their hearing on 21 January at 16:00.

That’s when Chiefs will be expected to plead on the charges laid against them by the PSL and present their side of the story.

The PSL is adamant that Chiefs were in contravention of the league’s Covid-19 rules published in December 2020.

“Kaizer Chiefs Football Club have been charged in relation with their non-fulfilment of their two fixtures as a result of the allegations that most of their players had tested positive,” said Majavu.

“That case has also been enrolled for hearing on the 21st of January at 16:00,” added Majavu.
