Foul odour leads to discovery of decomposing body of traditional healer
The elderly traditional healer was reportedly last seen almost a month ago when her decomposing body was found in Waterloo, KZN.
A foul odour led to the discovery of a decomposing body of a female traditional healer who last seen a month ago in her home, in Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on Friday.
TRADITIONAL HEALER’S BODY DISCOVERED
According to private security, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), they received a call for assistance at 13:37 after a relative forcefully gained entry into the house and made the discovery.
On arrival, RUSA members were led to a bedroom which was also used as a prayer room.
RUSA spokesperson, Prem Balram said the body of the severely decomposed female who was also a traditional healer was located on the floor. She was grasping a bucket.
Balram said according to neighbours, they had last seen the woman who is estimated to be in her sixties nearly a month ago.
“They contacted her family this afternoon after a foul odour filled the air surrounding her house. Her relatives arrived shortly thereafter and broke a window before entering the residence. The deceased lived alone.
“The cause of death has not been confirmed however residents in the area stated that the elderly woman was unwell the last time they had seen her.”
CHILD FOUND HANGING IN KZN
In a separate incident, the body of a child, believed to be around five years old, was found hanging from a tree near a school in Ntuzuma, also in KZN.
The child’s body was located on 3 July in G Section, Ntuzuma. The South African Police Service (SAPS) was reportedly searching for the family or relatives of the deceased child.
It is alleged that the child’s body was in a state of decomposition. Identifying information about the child including the gender will only be determined after an autopsy has been conducted.
KZN SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala says an inquest docket was opened at the Ntuzuma police station for investigation.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated,” Gwala said.
