No fewer than TEN of the 11 starters hail from the two powerhouses of South African football.

Fans voted five Amakhosi players – Itumeleng Khune, Njabulo Ngcobo, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Njabulo Ncgobo and Keagan Dolly – into the starting XI while the Buccaneers will be represented by Paseko Mako, Happy Jele, Thembinkosi Lorch, Deon Hotto and Kwame Peprah.

The only non-Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates player is Swallows defender Thabo Matlaba.

The fourth team making up the Inland Group 2 (which has been named Warriors FC) – TS Galaxy – have no players in the starting XI.

Warriors FC will be coached by current Swallows coach Dylan Kerr with Fani Madida as his assistant while Stuart Baxter, Fadlu Davids and Esau Mtsweni will be the technical advisors.

The team will take on the Coastal Group 1 team – which has been called Amabutho and comprises players from AmaZulu, Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United and Royal AM – in the semi-finals.

The match will be the second semi-final on Saturday, 22 January at the Moses Mabhida Stadium at 18:00.

In the earlier semi-final, Coastal United will take on Dinaledi at 15:00.

The DStv Compact Cup final and third-place playoff will take place the following weekend at the FNB Stadium.
