The EThekwini Municipality confirmed on Friday evening that the driver who took a dangerous joy ride in the Galleria Mall on Friday was arrested.
AN INTERNAL INVESTIGATION WILL BE CONDUCTED
Municipality spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela said EThekwini Municipality could confirm the arrest by the SAPS of the driver who drove a municipal vehicle into Gallera Mall.
“In tandem, the municipality is conducting an internal investigation. Should the internal investigation reveal possible misconduct, disciplinary steps will ensue,” Mayisela said.

DRIVER ACCUSED OF RECKLESSLY ENDANGERING SAFETY OF SHOPPERS
The driver was accused of recklessly endangering the safety of shoppers at the Galleria Mall after he drove through the mall and waded through several bystanders. The man behind the wheel was also allegedly drunk at the time.
The bystanders or shoppers can be seen walking with the bakkie and filming the strange occurrence as the driver tries to find a exit.
One onlooker states the driver was ‘lucky not to hit anyone’, and based on this evidence, we’re inclined to agree..
Apparently this Ethekwini Municipality employee was drunk in search of an exit boom gate then decided to drive to the side that he knows and remember through the top level of Galleria Mall
