Drinks on Jake White on Saturday at Loftus

Drinks will be on Jake White, after his side takes on Edinburgh Rugby in a URC clash at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday

The all-new Loftus beer garden will debut as the Bulls take on Edinburgh in Pretoria this weekend and Jake White wants it to be special.

To mark the occasion Director of Rugby, Jake White, has promised a free beer to the first 10,000 fans who enter the space.

White made the promise while appearing on Jacaranda radio but the commitment was backed up by the Bulls media team.

A press release read: “Drinks will be on Vodacom Bulls director of rugby, Jake White, after his side takes on Edinburgh Rugby in a Vodacom United Rugby Championship clash at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

“Jake White, during a radio interview on Jacaranda FM on Thursday afternoon, committed to buying a round of drinks for the first thousand fans at the Tshwane stadium’s beer garden after the game.

“This will be the first Vodacom URC home match for the 2022/23 season for the Vodacom Bulls following their season-opening victory over the Emirates Lions last weekend.”

White said the Bulls want to show people that Loftus is the place to watch URC rugby and the experience goes beyond enjoying a match in stadium.

“We want to get as many people as possible at our games. We know this weekend will be an afternoon game and it’s Heritage Day. Part of our heritage is to have a braai and a beer, so I think one of the things we could do is give the first thousand guys to go into the beer tent after the game – I’ll pay for that – and I’ll buy their first beer,” said White.

“I always say that we want crowds here at Loftus even if it means we get everyone to the beer tent after the game. Hopefully we will be celebrating a good result.”

Get these in

White is clearly passionate about getting fans out to the stadium.

In the previous season in 2021 the director of rugby was also responsible for publicly agreeing to drop ticket prices to matches at Loftus Versfeld to R25 ahead of the return of spectators to stadiums.

Tickets remain on sale from R25 this season as well, while kids 18 years and under will get a free ticket into the match against Edinburgh on Saturday.

Kick-off for the match is at 14:30.
