Snake spotted at Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula’s house: Sangoma talks significance [watch]

Tweeps have shared a clip of celeb sangoma Gogo Bathini speaking about snakes after one was spotted near Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula’s house.

South Africans were shocked by the sighting of a large snake near the home of former National Assembly speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula. Now, social media users have shared a clip of celebrity sangoma or spiritual healer Gogo Bathini speaking out about the significance of serpents.

This week, the former ANC representative tendered her resignation amid allegations she accepted millions in bribes dating back to her tenure as Minister of Defence.

On Thursday, 4 April, she handed herself into the Lyttelton police station in Johannesburg.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority, Mapisa-Nqakula appeared at the Pretoria Magistrates Court on multiple charges of corruption and money laundering.

In a video posted on the X account of SABC journalist Chriselda Lewis, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula was seen leaving her plush mansion to hand herself over to authorities.

According to BusinessLive, the former Minister of Defence lives in an affluent area in the eastern suburbs of Johannesburg.

However, eagled-eyed tweeps were quick to spot something lurking in the background – a large snake!

The snake – believed to be a python – was seen slithering along a neighbour’s wall towards Mapisa-Nqakula’s house.

The sighting had social media users buzzing with speculation…

@bchinyakata: “What is a snake doing outside? Is it coming from work?”

@Ndi_Muvenda_: “Seems like the snake arrived a bit late to save her.”

@Oh_itz_goOmz: “The money maker.”

@Thabo_Tshaba: “Sis Thembi [sangoma] from Dloz’lami is needed in that hood.”

Meanwhile, one tweep has posted a video of sangoma Gogo Bathini talking about one of his many pet snakes.

@ThisIsColbert tweeted: “South Africans spotted a huge snake near Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula ’s house. How dangerous are snakes? Gogo Bathini explains”.

In the clip, the popular traditional healer is seen with a snake around his neck.

He claims his neighborhood is unfazed by the creature, as they feel “safe.” He said: “They [snakes] are not after killing human beings. But if you challenge them, they will show you flames”.

Of his own snake, he said: “She is responsible for making sure that whatever you want happening in your life does happen luck-wise.

“There’s no sex or killing involved, but there is punishment for those who do the wrong thing.

“This snake is genuine. There are ways of dealing with issues”.

In 2020, controversial author Jackie Phamotse shared her beliefs that wealthy people in South Africa were allegedly connected to “dark magic.”

And this, she believes, involves muti and the use of snakes.

Sangoma Gogo Bathini backed Jackie’s claims that snakes are allegedly used to acquire riches.

He told TshisaLive: “A snake if it is well bred with the right muti on it, can make your business go from one to 100. I personally specialise with celebrities, pastors, all sorts of prominent people, entrepreneurs, business people, a lot.

He added: “If I were to be given the right to talk, I could mention a lot of celebrity and political names, and you would be shocked.”
