Banyana Banyana have to convincingly beat the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the return leg to book their ticket to Paris.

Banyana Banyana have it all to do in the second leg of the Olympics qualifier after going down 1-0 to the Super Falcons of Nigeria on Friday night.

In what was expected to be a tough and exciting match, Desiree Ellis called up the big guns for the first leg in Nigeria.

Among those were Bambanani Mbane and captain Refiloe Jane as the Banyana Banyana knew the importance and magnitude of this encounter.

The South Africans, though, conceded in the final three minutes of the first half as they let Ajibade find the back of the net.

It then became extremely hard for Banyana Banyana to come back from a goal down in the second half.

However, they did well to prevent the Super Falcons from scoring more goals as it would have been detrimental to their chances of qualifying.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BANYANA BANYANA?

Now, Banyana Banyana need to beat Nigeria by a two-goal margin in the second leg which will be played at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday.

Kick-off is at 19:30.

A 2-0 or a 3-1 scoreline would be enough for Banyana Banyana while a 2-1 win would see them fail to qualify on away-goal rule.

The winner of this tie between Nigeria and South Africa will represent Africa at the Olympics in Paris later this year.

There will be two African women’s teams at the Olympics. The other team will be determined between Zambia and Morocco.

Morocco have already put one foot in Paris following their 2-1 first leg win over Zambia away from home on Friday night.
