Asanele Velebayi saga: Only one mystery offer for winger

Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou confirms only one written offer for Asanele Velebayi from Kaizer Chiefs, but another mystery bid is on the table.

Asanele Velebayi saga continues with only one mystery offer for winger revealed.

Cape Town Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou has provided crucial insights into the current situation surrounding in-demand midfielder Velebayi. Amid growing speculation, particularly regarding interest from Kaizer Chiefs, Efstathiou confirmed that the club has only received one official written offer from Chiefs thus far.

“But as far as written offers are concerned, we’ve only received one. Chiefs know our stance, everyone knows our stance and we are not changing that,” Efstathiou emphasised, as quoted by Soccer Laduma. He made it clear that the narrative surrounding a Chiefs-Spurs rivalry over Velebayi is exaggerated. “We know what the player is valued at; he has a contract with our club, and that needs to be respected no matter the club,” he asserted, reiterating the importance of adhering to the club’s valuation.

Spurs stand firm on Velebayi’s valuation

Efstathiou has consistently maintained that Cape Town Spurs will not lower their asking price for Velebayi. He urged Chiefs and any other interested parties to meet their valuation if they wish to secure the player’s transfer before the current window closes.

“There are no discounts when you know the worth of your product,” he stated. “We have shown that we are not opposed to selling players. We have lost three crucial players. Two of them went to Stellenbosch, who were willing to pay what we were asking for, and one to Chiefs. This is how it works all over the world.” Efstathiou added, “If anyone meets our asking price for Asanele, he will be transferred.”

Efstathiou: Mystery offer on the table

In a surprising twist, Alexi Efstathiou disclosed exclusively to this publication that there is another offer on the table for Velebayi, but it comes from an unexpected source. “There is an offer for Asa, but it’s not from who you think,” he revealed on Tuesday evening to The South African.

As the transfer window draws closer to its September 20th deadline. All eyes remain on Cape Town Spurs to see if they will accept this mysterious offer or continue holding out for a more favourable deal. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see whether Velebayi will remain with Spurs. Or make a move that could change the landscape of the league.
