The Ndimande brothers who are part of the seven accused of the murder of AKA do not want to be extradited from eSwatini.

The two brothers allegedly involved in the murder of award-winning rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes don’t want to be extradited from eSwatini.

Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande, were arrested by the Royal Eswatini Police Service in February appeared in the Manzini Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

AKA MURDER ACCUSED TO REMAIN IN ESWATINI FOR NOW

As previously reported by The South African, in March, the Department of Justice and Correctional Services confirmed that South Africa has formally requested the extradition of the Ndimande brothers.

“The Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services confirms that Minister Ronald Lamola has approved and transmitted a request by South Africa for the extradition of Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi Dave Ndimande from the Kingdom of Eswatini (Eswatini) to the Republic of South Africa,” the department said.

In the last court appearance in March, the defence asked for a postponement in order to go through the extradition application from South Africa.

On Tuesday, Sivesonke Ngwenya told the court that they want to fully review the extradition papers from South Africa. They also plan to oppose the extradition request as they fear for the safety of the two brothers should they return to South Africa.

Magistrate David Khumalo said the applicants have not opposed the request.

“So, on 14 May, when the matter comes back to court, it is ordered that the respondents come back to the court having fully gone through the papers and having taken full instructions, including indicating whether or not the application has been opposed,” he said.

The matter was postponed to 14 May.

BAIL APPLICATION POSTPONED TO MAY

Meanwhile, the bail application of the five suspects who are in South Africa has also been postponed to May for closing arguments.

Notably, all the five suspects deny any involvement in the murder of AKA. The State is opposing bail.
