This Seasonal $3.99 TJ's Find Is Finally Back—And It's So Delicious
Trader Joe’s Harvest Apple Salad Kit is back for a limited time only and is full of fall flavor. The mix of spring greens, shredded cheddar, dried apples, and chopped pecans is simple yet easy to dress up.
One of my all-time favorite salads is back on the refrigerated shelves at Trader Joe’s.
Trader Joe’s Harvest Apple Salad has finally returned, and I’m going to buy this ready-made salad as long as it’s in stock.
What's So Great About Trader Joe's Harvest Apple Salad Kit
I absolutely love apples, and I love adding them to salads, so of course Trader Joe’s Harvest Apple Salad Kit is a fall favorite of mine.
The kit makes a simple yet elegant salad that just sings with autumnal flavor. Its base is a mix of fresh spring greens. Then, it comes with little bags of just the right amount of shredded bits of white cheddar cheese, dried cinnamon apples, and chopped pecans.
The dressing is an absolutely fantastic vinaigrette made with apple juice, apple cider vinegar, and Dijon mustard, which my son says he likes better than a basic balsamic vinaigrette. It’s actually so good that I think I am going to have to experiment to see if I can replicate it in my kitchen.
The whole kit costs only $3.99, and it claims it makes 2 1/2 servings. I think it makes three to four perfectly-sized side salads. Though, to be honest, the last time I bought it, my son and I split one entire kit, and if he wasn’t home, I probably would have eaten the entire bag of salad by myself. It’s that good. I just love the texture of the dried apples mixed with the salad greens and the pecans, and the cheddar cheese just pairs so perfectly with the apples and the apple vinaigrette.
How To Enjoy This Salad
The salad is perfect as-is but it could also be turned into a meal with Trader Joe’s rosemary grilled chicken breasts or smoked salmon. To make a fancy chef’s salad, you could add hard-boiled eggs, avocado, ham, and turkey, as the flavors of this salad would really up the ante on a traditional chef’s salad.
Or add the salad to grilled chicken, salmon, or turkey wraps for a festive fall sandwich.
It’s also fancy enough to serve to guests. In fact, this salad could be served at both dinner or brunch. For dinner, I’d serve it with pork chops or baked chicken. For brunch, it would be perfect to serve alongside a quiche.
How about what to drink? I think this salad would pair perfectly with hard cider for an especially autumnal meal.
