ALDI's shoppers have spoken, and their passionate plea has been answered. Through the grocery chain's sixth annual Fan Favorites awards, customers have overwhelmingly selected the Huntington Home Swedish dishcloths to return to store shelves.

They won the "ALDI Encore" award, which means they earned the title of one of the most treasured limited-edition products that shoppers want to see back on shelves. In the sea of unique and trendy offerings ALDI brings each week—from lifestyle, clothing, pet, child-focused, and food products—you know it's saying something that these little dishcloths have generated the most excitement. So much so that when they first appeared in February 2024, they sold out within two weeks.

Selling at an incredibly affordable $4.99 per pair, this cloth style is becoming increasingly common because it's an eco-friendly alternative to disposable paper towels. They're reusable, quick-drying, machine washable, compostable, and, overall, more sustainable. For all of these reasons (and more), these humble little cloths have captured my heart.

Why I Love ALDI's Swedish Dishcloths

These aren't your grandma's dish towels. Made from 100% cotton, they have a texture that feels like a cross between a traditional cloth and a sponge. This innovative design makes them absorbent, durable, and gentle but effective enough to be used on a range of surfaces with water, soap, or cleaners.

Similar brands claim that one cloth can replace up to 15 rolls of paper towels, which, of course, depends on what they're used on and how often they're washed. I haven't kept a tally, but I know I reach for paper towels far less, which means I'm saving money and reducing waste. And I've used them to clean everything from greasy stove tops to delicate wine glasses.

They dry reasonably quickly, so I don't notice musty-smelling rags by the sink any longer. And they're machine washable, so they can be tossed into the dishwasher or the regular laundry cycle. These particular sets are also designed with the cutest holiday prints. The seasonal options include Santa's sleigh, winter snowscapes, and whimsical Christmas trees.

Swedish Dishcloths Make Affordable Holiday Gifts

These cloths are so fantastic, I think everyone should own a pair. So, I've found some ways to turn them into creative and affordable gifts. Beyond a unique hostess gift or a simple thank-you present for the neighbor who loaned me their stand mixer for longer than I care to admit, here are a few of my favorite ways to spread some Swedish dishcloth joy: Pairing a set with a nice wooden spoon, a local honey or homemade spice blend, and a handwritten recipe makes a thoughtful gift for the foodies in our lives. I love the idea of creating an "eco bundle" and gifting the cloths with reusable produce bags and beeswax food wraps to a friend trying to reduce their plastic use.

I'm also considering making a cleaning kit with DIY cleaners, a cute scrub brush, and the cloths for a pal who prefers non-toxic cleaners. It's both practical and lovely. For anyone you still do stockings with, the cloths can easily be slipped into a stocking for a bit of practical Christmas morning magic, too. But like the first time they were released, they won't last long. So when you see these inspired and festive cloths in store, grab a few packs—both for yourself and gifting.
