The $3.59 Target Find I’m Stocking up on for the Holidays
Target currently has seven versions of its seasonal whipped dairy toppings available. We tried all the flavors to see which ones were worth adding to your holiday desserts and drinks.
I was shopping at Target to stock up on some medicinal teas for the upcoming cold season when I walked past the end counter of the deli section and did a double take. There, on a refrigerated shelf, sat the biggest selection of flavored whipped cream I’d ever seen.
My inner five-year-old was absolutely enthralled, and I decided to test the entire seasonal line of Favorite Day whipped dairy toppings.
Why I Love Favorite Day’s Seasonal Whipped Dairy Topping
Each 13-ounce aerosol can of whipped dairy costs only $3.59, and there are currently seven seasonal flavors to choose from: gingerbread, pumpkin spice, holiday nog, pecan pie, peppermint, hot cocoa, and marshmallow.
My husband, 14-year-old son, and I decided to taste them all in one sitting to do a side-by-side comparison. We first sampled them individually on spoons. I then re-tasted the whipped dairy toppings on some tiny cookies I had on hand, and my husband tried them on pumpkin pie. Our son decided that they didn’t need any desserts because they were all so good by themselves.
His absolute favorite was peppermint. “It had a clean taste of peppermint,” he said. Next was the holiday nog, followed by the marshmallow. All three, he said, would go well with hot cocoa.
My husband’s favorite, hands down, was the hot cocoa. “I love chocolate,” he says. Buthe was also pleasantly surprised by his runner-up choice, gingerbread. “It has a nice, subtle flavor,” he noted. Holiday nog took third place, as he also loves egg nog.
For me, selecting a top three proved too difficult, so I ended up with four favorites. Like my husband and son, I liked the holiday nog, the gingerbread, and the peppermint, but I also really enjoyed the pumpkin spice.
To me, the holiday nog would be a perfect eggnog topper, while the gingerbread and peppermint would pair nicely with hot cocoa and coffee drinks. The pumpkin spice would (no surprise) be great on top of a latte, but it would also go really well on pumpkin pie and pumpkin cake.
While the pecan pie didn’t make any of our top lists, it was still really delicious and would go great with a pecan roll, cookie, or pie. You can’t really go wrong with any of these seasonal whipping creams. They’ll enhance different holiday desserts like pies, brownies, cookies, and cakes. But for those who like to end their night with a bowl of ice cream, they’d easily take a hot fudge sundae to the next level.
