Axxess launces Vodacom uncapped 5G

Axxess has launched a new uncapped Home fixed-5G product, with prices starting from R495 per month.

The new product runs on Vodacom’s network, and the company is currently offering a promotion where customers can add a 5G router for R1,499.

According to the offer, the router is usually priced at R4,499.

“Experience true 5G technology delivering speeds of up to 500Mbps, perfect for both business and home use,” Axxess said.

The Vodacom-powered Home 5G is available through four subscription tiers, each varying based on fair usage policy (FUP) data thresholds.

Therefore, each package offers best-effort speeds, which Axxess says can reach 500Mbps. However, this depends on router availability and capacity on the 5G tower to which the router connects.

The Standard 5G plan costs R495 per month and has an FUP data threshold of 250GB, after which speeds are throttled to 2Mbps.

Stepping up to the R695 per month Advanced 5G plan ups the data threshold to 350GB.

For R200 more per month, customers can sign up for the Pro 5G package, which offers maximum speeds until 550GB before throttling to 2Mbps.

Axxess also offers a Pro+ 5G plan for R995 per month, with an FUP limit of 750GB.

The Internet service provider is offering a delivery guarantee for the new Home 5G product, promising to deliver within three business days.

If it fails to do so, it will credit your account to the amount of R300.

The launch of uncapped fixed-5G through Axxess is interesting, considering Vodacom only offers hard-capped fixed-5G products.

The mobile network operator previously told MyBroadband that it hard caps its Home 5G products to ensure that it can continue to offer customers high-quality 5G connectivity.

A spokesperson said high data usage through a single tower in a densely populated area could hinder 5G connectivity as both uncapped 5G products and mobile 5G products run off the same site.

It also comes shortly after Axxess launched uncapped fixed-LTE products powered by Vodacom.
