CWG 2022 | Pakistan wins two wrestling medals

Pakistani wrestlers Mohammad Sharif Tahir and Ali Asad earned silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the Commonwealth Games 2022. In the Men’s Freestyle 74kg wrestling competition, Tahir was defeated by Naveen Naveen of India and received a silver medal. In the Men’s Freestyle 57kg competition, Asad defeated Suraj Singh of New Zealand in 55 seconds to win the bronze medal. Sharif was unable to defend against Naveen’s counterattacks, and his greatest adversary won the gold with nine consecutive technical points. Together with countrymen Inam Butt and Zaman Anwar, he earned a silver medal for Pakistan at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

On the other hand, Asad had a strong grasp. He gained 10 points by seizing Singh by the legs and rolling him off the mat. Asad was awarded a bronze medal because the game ended 11-0. In the semi-final match, Kumar Ravi of India defeated his Pakistani opponent. This was Pakistan’s third bronze medal in the still-ongoing Commonwealth Games. Hussain Shah got a bronze medal in judo, while Inayatullah (62 kg) won a bronze medal in wrestling. At the Commonwealth Games 2022, six wrestlers competed. Tayab Raza will compete in the Bronze medal match for Men’s Freestyle 90kg later today. Five of them won medals.
