Myanmar moves detained former leader Aung San Suu Kyi to house arrest

Min Aung Hlaing, Myanmar's junta chief-turned president, on Thursday ordered detained leader Aung San Suu Kyi to be moved to house arrest. Suu Kyi was sentenced to 33 years in jail after the 2021 coup. Her sentence was commuted to 27 years weeks after Min Aung Hlaing was voted president in an election dismissed as civilian window dressing by monitoring groups.
