Historians seek to preserve Gaza’s cultural heritage
It’s been more than 400 days since Israel launched its offensive on Gaza. The ongoing war was denounced as a "genocide" of Palestinians last week by Amnesty International, which is urging the global community to act. On top of the bombings of buildings and crucial infrastructure, the Strip's rich cultural heritage is also being destroyed. As of November 29, UNESCO had identified 75 historic, cultural and archaeological sites that have been damaged, including cemeteries and museums.
