Sundowns confirm Oswin Appollis stance amid Chiefs interest

Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns could be embroiled in yet another transfer tug-of-war for a player. 

Both Sundowns and Chiefs have been busy in the current transfer market, with more signings mooted, however. 

Chiefs and Sundowns have done good business

So far, Sundowns have signed five quality players who add to an already incredibly gifted squad. They have added to their roster the likes of Kabomelo Kodisang, Arthur Sales, Asekho Tiwani, Kegan Johannes and Iqraam Rayners. Chiefs have added to their squad. Bongani Sam, Rushwin Dortley, Fiacre Ntwari, Gaston Sirino, Inacio Miguel, Bradley Cross and Njabulo Blom. 

Now with that being said, it’s believed both Chiefs and Sundowns are still in the market for more quality additions. One player that seems to have piqued the interest of both giants is Bafana Bafana international Oswin Appollis. In a rather cryptic message, Masandawana coach Manqoba Mngqithi confirmed an ambigious stance on the player.

“I would love to get any top player and Appollis is one of the players I like. But I think many coaches would say the same thing, you don’t always get what you want in life. Because we (Sundowns) already have around 40 players. But it will be important to get a player like that, if an opportunity avails itself, but I don’t think it will avail itself because I know Esperance was interested in him and couldn’t get hold of him, so I wouldn’t want to talk much about something, that this stage is immaterial for me.” Said Mngqithi as per iDiski Times. 

In sentence there is the confirmation that Sundowns are interested in Appollis. The next sentence, however, seems to hint at a reality that it is not possible. The sentence after that then seems to suggest that it may just be possible. It Now remains to be seen if it will indeed happen or Chiefs come in and finish what they started.
